2026 Sewing Goals

This is the first time I am posting actual sewing goals anywhere, so we’ll see how well I do!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I spent a decent amount of 2025 making luxury garments because I could. It was the first year I have felt confident enough in my sewing abilities to ask why not, and did so with mixed success.

This year, I still want to make luxury garments and garments that make me feel good, but I also want to be a bit more intentional. This means focusing on lingerie, leatherwork, and foundation garments, as well as working on a few larger pieces. For some reason, this year feels a bit more like a “collection” of work (if I complete everything I want to do!).

I am hoping that by branch out and learning other aspects of garment construction, that I can also incorporate that into other aspects of garment construction and accessories: sweaters, belts, bags even. So, my overall goal is to not buy nearly as much from stores.

Skill goals:

  • Lingerie! Largely becoming more comfortable working with elastic
  • Leatherwork, including a wet formed corset/belt and gloves
  • To knit…something. We’ll see how far I get with this

Project goals:

  • Summer garments like sundresses, a romper set, and more made out of linen
  • Foundation garments like (more) petticoats and lingerie
